What is in Nutrient tablets?

The AeroGarden™ nutrient tablets consist mainly of mineral salts. These provide the 13 micro and macro nutrients that all plants require, in just the right proportions for all your herb plants. The tablets also contain:

• Seaweed for a boost of  70 additional micro nutrients.
• A buffer so you can use tap water for your plants without adjusting the pH.
• A binder to hold the tablets together.

Are the nutrients organic?

In order to be certified as organic by the USDA, plant fertilizer must be derived from plants or animal. Because the tablets are derived from mineral salts, our nutrients do not meet the USDA definition. These are many of the same mineral salts you will find in a typical multi vitamin.

Organic nutrients are no better for your plants than those obtained from mineral salts. Plant roots cannot distinguish between nutrient ions that originally came from plants or animals and those that came from mineral salts. This is because organic nutrients go through a number of biological processes that convert them into minerals before they can be used by plants. We have skipped this step by using mineral salts.

Can I use leftover nutrient tablets from a different AeroGarden™ Seed Kit?

Unfortunately not. The nutrient tablets are specifically formulated for each AeroGarden™ seed kit. Using nutrient tablets from a different seed kit type may harm your plants and result in less that optimal flavor and growth.
