1. How long will the kits last?
Enough nutrients are supplied in your seed
kits so you can grow Gourmet Herbs, International Basil, and Cascading
Petunias for four months. Salad greens will last for
three months.
Cherry
Tomatoes and Chili Peppers last for six months.
Nutrient refills to extend
the growing life of your gardens and will soon be available.
2. Once I receive the AeroGarden™,
how difficult is it to assemble and how much time do I need to
devote to it on a daily basis.
The AeroGarden™ is extremely simple to
assemble plant and tend. Many people have it assembled and their first
garden planted in less than ten minutes.
Once the AeroGarden™ is planted it
takes less than 5 minutes every few weeks to tend to.
3. Are empty seed pods available so I
can plant my own seeds, also can the seed pods be re-used?
The
Master Gardener Seed Kit is
available to fulfill just such a need.
4. What do the nutrient tablets consist
of?
AeroGarden™ nutrient tablets consist of
mineral salts and seaweed. These provide the
thirteen nutrients that all plants
require, plus seventy additional micronutrients for additional vigor, in just
the right proportions for each seed kit type. The tablets also contain a
pH buffer, which enables you to grow using water straight from your tap,
and a pharmaceutical grade binder to hold the tablets together.
5. Can I use water from my tap? What
type of water can I use with the AeroGarden™?
Tap water is fine unless you have softened
water or you have unfiltered well water. A general rule of thumb is if
you are comfortable drinking your water and using it for other
houseplants, it should be just fine in the AeroGarden.
6. Are bugs ever an issue?
Since most bugs that plague gardeners
require soil for part of their life cycle, we don't see many bugs; but
that’s not to say it might not happen. If aphids hitch a ride into your home
on your pets or cut flowers, they can easily be washed off by removing the
grow plug from the garden, turning it upside down, and simply rinsing the
bugs off under the water.
7. Can I mix up the kits? Can I grow
part of one kit with part of another?
The AeroGarden™, seed kits, nutrient tablets
and grow lights have been engineered and tested for each seed kit to
provide optimum growth for whatever seed kit you choose to plant. The
light and flow cycles have also been carefully developed to optimize the
growth of each plant type. Finally, the groups of plants in each kit have
been extensively tested to make sure they grow well together as a group
with regard to height and nutrient uptake. The AeroGarden™ does it all for
you.
If you would like to try to grown different
plants the
AeroGarden™ Pro 100
with a
Master Gardener Seed Kit
will definitely do the trick.
8. Aren't the seed kits kind of
expensive?
No, not when you compare
what you
would spend for the plants grown in the AeroGarden™ at your local store.
First, the AeroGarden™ includes absolutely everything you need for a season
of successful growth. Next, it takes all the work out of gardening – you
simply pop the seed pods in the holes in the grow deck, add water and
two
nutrient tablets, and you are ready to
grow. Finally, you just won't believe how much produce you
will grow with each kit. You will grow over $100 worth of
herbs and basil with our Gourmet Herb and International Basil
kits. You will grow hundred of vine-ripened, delicious
cherry tomatoes and chili peppers with our Cherry Tomato and
Chili Pepper kits. You will grow many dinner size salads a
week after only two-and-a-half weeks with our
Salad Greens kit.
9. Is this organic?
We cannot, however, claim to be certified
organic by the USDA because their current definition of organic does not
include hydroponics nor does it include nutrients based on mineral salts.
Interestingly, in Europe, our product would be considered organic. What we
can state emphatically is that the produce grown in the AeroGarden™ is free
from chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides. You will know because
you will be watching it grow.
10. What size is the AeroGarden™ and how
much space will I need for it.?
The AeroGarden measures 16
inches long, by 10 ˝ inches
wide, by 15 ˝ inches high when it is first set up with the lights at the lowest
possible level. It has the footprint of a breadbox, and it fits under most
cabinets. When the plants have grown and the lights are at their highest
point, they reach 21 inches high.
